Loving Me 1st came from life experience. After abusive and controlling marriage at 19, Kama realized the importance of building and sustaining personal power. She used strength and power to redevelop herself and her vision. She set her sight on serving young ladies to support the achievement of their highest potential.
Kama Burton is the founder of Loving Me 1st, a nonprofit organization she established in 2015 after enduring a marriage marked by control and domestic violence. Through her personal experiences, Kama was inspired to create a space where young girls could learn to value themselves by embracing self-love and self-awareness. Loving Me 1st offers a range of empowering sessions, including vision board creation, goal setting, and writing love letters to oneself, all designed to reinforce the message that every girl is fearfully and wonderfully made.
Kama's dedication to the community is evident through the annual "I Matter" girls' conferences, which highlight the importance of self-worth and the power of each girl's thoughts, ideas, and identity. Additionally, Loving Me 1st's "I Am Enough" summer series encourages girls to embrace who they are without feeling the need to change for others.
In response to a rise in conflicts at her daughter’s high school during the 2015-16 school year, Kama initiated the Girls Club mentorship program. The program, which began at a single school, has since expanded to over seven campuses, impacting more than 1,000 girls by building their self-esteem and fostering personal growth. Now contracted with two school districts and serving 12 schools, Girls Club continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of young girls.
In addition to her nonprofit work, Kama holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and is a successful real estate broker-owner in Moreno
Valley, CA, with 19 years of experience in the industry, including 4 years as a broker-owner. She is also a nationally recognized speaker and trainer in real estate. Kama serves in the real estate
community as a dedicated volunteer. She has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Inland Valleys Association of REALTORS® since 2014, served as Treasurer from 2019 to 2021, and held the position of President in 2022. Although not involved on the Board of Directors, she serves on the various committees. She also holds various leadership roles within the California and National Association of REALTORS®.
Her outstanding contributions to the community through Loving Me 1st were honored with the 2023 Nonprofit of the Year Award by State Assemblymember Dr. Corey Jackson, representing District 60.
Serving is where her heart is, whether in her business or personal life, Kama Burton loves giving back.
